According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the EBEL PSC, player Matthias Trattnig (#51) of EC Red Bull Salzburg, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 124 – Checking to the head or neck

On December 21st, in Villach, an incident occurred involving Salzburg player #51 Matthias Trattnig which is deemed checking to the head. With Matthias Trattnig losing possession of the puck in the attacking zone, causing the puck to travel into the neutral zone, a teammate gained possession of the puck. In an effort to open up ice, Matthias Trattnig changed his skating lane, to his left, which created an interference (pick play) to open up ice for his teammate. The reason for supplementary discipline is due to Matthias Trattnig making primary contact to the head of the opposing player.

As the video shows, Matthias Trattnig alters his skating lane to his left, directly in front of the opposing player. The left shoulder of Matthias Trattnig is elevated up and outwards, creating initial and primary contact, directly to the head of the opposing player. The opposing player is considered in a normal skating pattern, did not alter or change his body position and was unsuspecting of the head contact.

Effective immediately, Matthias Trattnig (#51) is suspended for 1 game.
