.
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC, Adam Comrie (#44) of EC-KAC, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 127 – Cross Checking.

On December 22nd in Klagenfurt, a cross checking incident occurred involving EC-KAC D’Man (#44) Adam Comrie on Hydro Fehervar AV19 forward (#16) Girard Felix. A 5 minute + Game Misconduct was assessed by the on-ice officials.

As the video shows, off a end zone face-off, a goal mouth scramble ensues. Adam Comrie is on a 1 on 1 battle with Girard Felix, while a lose puck and possible scoring opportunity is occurring. With Felix facing the net and a regard and concern for the puck, he is making a legal play, especially considering the puck was lose and available. Felix did not slash the goalie or do anything that would deem a probable cause to be shoved from behind into the net.

Comrie begins the incident with his stick horizontal across the back of Felix, at which time he gave a small push. This portion is deemed legal and okay. Immediately following the small push, Comrie follows up with a full push, with his stick located across the back #’s of Felix. The push is aggressive and due to the middle of the back location, Felix upper body is propelled forward, which causes Felix head to directly contact the net. The excessive push, through the use of a cross check is deemed recklessly endangering, causing an apparent injury. Felix did receive medical attention but did return to the game.

Comrie must know the location and consequence of a cross check when he is located in direct proximity to the net. Furthermore, Comrie must refrain from unnecessary and excessive force for no reason, especially when the opposing player is in close proximity to the net.
