Zum detaillierten Urteil.
Diego Glück of HC Gherdeina valgardena.it has been suspended for one Alps Hockey League game because of an incident deemed as Checking to the head or neck area during the match against the EC Bregenzerwald on Tuesday.
Diego Glück (#13) of HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, time approx. 21:15, made contact with an opponent deemed as Illegal Check to the Head or Neck, IIHF Rule 48. Based on the video evidence, it is determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline – Category 1– ‘Careless’ – insufficient attention or thought to avoid harm or error. Liable to happen as a consequence of, by intending to affect an opponent through a reactionary or accidental motion or the incident is deemed careless causing negligence.
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the AHL PSC, player Diego Glück (#13) of HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will receive supplementary discipline under rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head or Neck.
On Tuesday night, March 8th, in Gherdeina an incident occurred, deemed as an illegal check to the head or neck, that involved #13 Diego Glück of HC Gherdeina making a check on ECB player #14 Julian Zwerger.
As the video shows, with Zwerger in puck control and skating through the neutral zone, skating across ice in a direct skating lane, Glück delivers a hard, forceful hit making the head of Zwerger the main point of contact, knocking him to the ice. This is deemed an illegal check to the head.
In delivering the check, Glück is permitted to make a legal check, which involves the contact to be distributed, to the body of the opposing player. Instead, the contact was delivered where the head of Zwerger was the main point of contact. While we acknowledge that Glück does make subsequent contact, through incidental leg on leg contact, which contributed to the spinning motion, it is the head of Zwerger that absorbs the brunt of the force, causing an apparent injury. It is also important to note that the onus is on Glück to avoid head contact. An East, West check runs a higher risk than an angle off approach. In this case, the direct skating lane was maintained by Glück, which means legal contact must be done through body to body contact, avoiding head contact.
