Evan Jasper (#26) of spusu Vienna Capitals, time 30:02 was involved in an incident deemed as a Physical Abuse of an Official (IIHF Rule 40).

Sunday night December 22, in Vienna, Capitals forward #26 Evan Jasper was assessed a game-misconduct under IIHF Rule 40 – Physical Abuse of an Official.

This is a violation of IIHF Rule 40 which in part, is defined as: Any Player who deliberately applies physical force in any manner against an Official, where such actions were likely to cause injury to the latter, physically demeans, or deliberately applies physical force to an Official.

It is important to note and based on the video evidence, immediately following the conclusion of play for an offside, Jasper skated in the direction of the official making the call and appears to disagree with the call. A second official, realizing Jasper is in disagreement, skated in the direction of Jasper to position himself between the official making the call and Jasper, which is proper protocol. As the official was in close proximity to Jasper, Jasper, unimpeded, pushed the official away.

The physical push is considered a violation of physical abuse of an official under Category 1 of the Casebook, which states:
Category 1 up to 3 games – a player who physically demeans or threatens or applies force solely for the purpose of getting free of an official.

The ICE Hockey League Department of Player Safety has suspended Evan Jasper for 2 games and fined 400.00 euros.
