Die langjährige Profi-Eishockeykarriere von Miika Wiikmann hat am Mittwoch offiziell einen Schlusspunkt gefunden. Der 35-Jährige gab seine Entscheidung über seinen persönlichen Twitter-Account bekannt.
Seit letztes Profi-Spiel absolvierte er Anfang Jänner 2019 für das französische Team „Anglet“. Die körperlichen Schmerzen hätten sich seit diesem Zeitpunkt allerdings nicht mehr verbessert. Dies macht ein aktives Comeback für den finnisch-schwedischen Doppelstaatsbürger unmöglich.
In seiner Profi-Karriere stand Miika Wiikman in der Saison 2014/15 in der Erste Bank Eishockey Liga für Olimpija Ljubljana auf dem Eis. In elf Spielen brachte er es auf eine Fangquote auf 91,1 Prozent. Der Gegentorschnitt betrug 3,41
